Busy Paws Pet Resort
Fostering abandoned, neglected, or medically challenged animals is my passion. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a foster grow into a happy, confident, well-adjusted pet and then seeing them thrive with their new family. We maintain one room at the resort, all year round, just for fosters.
The fosters appearing on this page were rescued by many different organizations. My job, as their foster mom, was to bring these babies into my family and expose them to what it is like to live in a home. Some of the fosters had never seen stairs, walked through a doorway, heard a vacuum or toilet flush. These simple things can be scary to them. The fosters lived with me for a few days, a few weeks, or sometimes a few months until they were ready physically and emotionally to move on. Yes, I cried when it was time for them to leave, but I cried even harder when I received pictures and messages from their new families. There is a huge amount of satisfaction in being a part of a team that has such a positive impact on a life.
As an aside, if you are interested in joining this mission by fostering, please contact us at BusyPawsPetResort@gmail.com
Fostering does come with a few challenges!
Rainey came to me at about 9 months of age. She had contracted demodectic mange as a very young pup and the owner did not seek medical treatment. Demodex is a non-contagious mite that lives in the hair follicles. When the body is compromised due to illness or malnutrition, the mites multiply and take over. If left untreated, sever skin infections occur. The remedy is simply a flea medication. The same one most of us give our pets every month along with their heartworm pill.
It has been several years since Rainy left my home. If you want to see what she looks like now, look up "Dylan and Rainey". She is super fuzzy and is the cover of an online pet store today!
